Meet Shayla Pollert

Welcome to the Young Living Circle, and thank you for visiting my pages! I must say I am humbly delighted you have taken a few moments of your precious time to learn a little more about me! Alternative medicine and essential oils have been a huge part of my life as they have been of immeasurable benefit to me and my loved ones countless times. Before I continue with my bio, I just want to mention that before you go, don't forget to check out the links in the brown navigation bar (above). I am confident that as you do you will be inspired and blessed by the wealth of information and education contained within these pages. I know our family has certainly been blessed through this wonderful world of natural medicines! To give you a little peek into my background; My alternative medicine and herbal journey all started around age four when my parents moved us all to the eastern part of Washington State, away from the big cities. For having spent the first 4 years of my life in the Seattle/Everett regions, I adapted surprisingly fast, like the moment we stepped out of the car! Growing up in the big woods and mountains of the Pacific Northwest was sensational. I loved everything about those forests from the tall evergreens, to the smells (little did I know the smells were because of essential oils), to the rocks and cliffs, the panoramic views, and the enchanting way the sun would glisten through the trees. I remember frequently chewing needles from the pine and fir trees as if they were gum. At the time I knew nothing at all about the essential oils in them, and the antiseptic, anti-arthritic, de-stressing, and energizing properties which those particular giant herbs possessed, nor did I know about the grounding emotional effect the evergreens smells have on people! I used to spend so many hours in the woods that it wasn’t unusual for me to get lost on deer trails for an hour or two, or three, and mom and dad never even knew! They just figured I was somewhere nearby, and I never dared telling them I went so far away that I almost couldn’t find my way home. They may not have let me go out again once they found out I would wander so far! It is true, the good Lord was definitely looking out for me! When I was 11, I found a book in my mom’s collection by Readers Digest entitled “The Magic and Medicine of Plants”, and I have to admit, it was the book that inspired my career. Around this time, I asked mom if I could do my math lessons outside to which she agreed. That lasted less then a week. Sure enough, I didn’t get any math done, even though that was the most fun in school I had until around 1995! It was in 1995 when my parents decided that since my love for herbal remedies and nature would never go away, and since the herbal and natural remedies from the books I read actually did help the family, mom and dad offered pay my way through the School of Natural Healing so I could acquire my masters degree in Herbology. I knew at an early age that a career in alternative medicine was what I wanted, and I was blessed with parents who supported me in my goal. After completing my schooling there, my dad asked me if I was going to go on to get a doctorate. “No” I replied, “I can help more people by teaching”. Some people are unaware of what a Master Herbalist is and does. To put things into perspective, Master Herbalist graduates from The School of Natural Healing are very similar to Naturopathic Doctors in what they are taught, but the big difference is an N.D. practices, and treats people, whereas a Master Herbalist simply teaches. In 1999, some twists of fate propelled me into helping primarily cancer victims for a time. After a couple years, I decided to slow down and take a job at an upscale health food store in Washington State. Here I learned about hundreds of health products on the market, and I still had the privilege of educating people about natural remedies and the importance of taking preventative measures. While working at the health food store I was appalled and perplexed, however, at the amount of health products out there and could see how people just learning about how to get healthy could become as overwhelmed as they do. In 2006, after being introduced to and trying many of the hundreds of products on the market, I myself got tired of weeding through the quality products from the not so good ones, and going in several different directions for all of our family’s health products just took too much time. At this point I had been using and loving Young Living’s essential oils since my aunt introduced me to them in 1996, however I was only interested in them for aromatherapeutic and emotional benefits at first. After having tried many oils from other companies and only been impressed with one single oil from one single company over the years, I knew from observing and periodically purchasing from Young Living for so long that they would have quality, guaranteed potency oils. I finally began seriously researching the wonderful and powerful world of Young Living’s essential oils and products for more then just aromatherapy. After much research, I learned that the reason I was impressed with their oils and not others was because theirs were therapeutic grade; meaning they were more pure and potent than others. It was then that I decided to take advantage of their wholesale program. Once I learned that essential oils are the biggest reason herbs work the way they do life was never the same again; the simplicity and effectiveness of using essential oils and products made with them was not only easier then taking herbs, but I found they truly did/do work better, and faster ! As a consumer of Young Living Essential Oils for years now I cannot speak highly enough of them. The first oil I ever fell in love with was a blend called Gentle Baby, and I have never been without a bottle since. I even diffused this heavenly blend via cold air diffusion and used it in bathwater for aromatherapeutic benefits during labor with my home birthed children! As a family woman, I understand the health concerns people in every walk of life have about the health conditions and crises of the world today. I am a graduate of the School of Natural Healing, where I was taught that there are no incurable diseases, only incurable people. I also believe that just because we don't know all the cures for diseases does not mean that God did not create a cure for all disease! As a purist, I believe in keeping things as close to nature as possible, which is just one of the many reasons I love Young Living. I have even been known to make our family’s own homemade body lotions using essential oils! I don’t use dried herbs as often as I used to. Not only do they take up so much space, but being a very busy person I figure why use something that takes hours or even days to work when I can have results now, plus I like the fact that essential oils have a much longer shelf life than herbs (herbs should be used within 1 year from harvest and most essential oils last indefinitely). I still use tinctures, however I usually add essential oils to them! I found early on that by adding oils to my herbal formula’s that I could not only decrease the amount of herbal formula I needed (sometimes by far) but I could also increase the effectiveness of the formula. As a result and to save my time I find Young Living’s many health products invaluable since they do the work for me by adding essential oils to their products. To date, I have studied, used, and taught alternative medicine and natural healing methods for nearly two decades, and I firmly believe that any healing program, as well as a simple good health program is absolutely incomplete without essential oils. When it comes to prevention, essential oils work miracles in the first line of defense. I use the oils everyday. From cleaning my house, to healthful benefits and to ward off depression and other negative emotions. I even use them to neutralize the toxic fumes in paint, including nail polish and nail polish remover! Young Living oils are without a doubt heaven “scent”! Having studied and used and taught alternative medicine and a more natural lifestyle for so many years, and after having looked into and tried so many other companies, I am grateful to have Young Living as a one stop shop for the what I consider the finest quality and most effective health products on the market!

My Kid Tip

Milk Shake

I like to give my children a scoop of Balance Complete mixed with a cup of milk as a treat every now and then. We call it a milkshake, and they love it! I love that it is jam packed with enzymes, antioxidants, whole food vitamins, and healthy ingredients that will build good health in them instead of tear it down.

I recommend Young Living's Everyday Oils

My Immune System Tip

ImmuPower

During the cold/flu season, our family favorites in the way of defense include ImmuPower essential oil and Inner Defense. They even seem to help if we are already getting sick.

My Household Tip

Aromatherapy Air Spray Mist

1 oz. distilled water

1 oz. 105 proof (or better) vodka

10-20 drops therapeutic grade essential oil

Place all ingredients into a 2 ounce spray bottle-just make sure it is the fine mist type. Label the bottle, and spray away!

Some of my favorite combination's and blends include

  • Bergamot and coriander

  • Ylang ylang and rose

  • Grapefruit and Spearmint

  • Frankincense and Lavender

  • Citrus Fresh

  • Joy

  • Christmas Spirit

  • Evergreen Essence

  • Transformation

My Home Spa Tip

Gentle Baby Clay Mask

This is wonderful for cleansing the pores and refining skin texture. The essential oil blend Gentle Baby contains oils that are used in elite skin care cosmetics, and is beneficial in improving and soothing the skin.

2 teaspoons bentonite clay

2 teaspoons water

1-2 drops Gentle Baby Essential oil

Place clay in a small bowl, and make a little well in the middle. Place the water in the well and add the essential oil blend. Mix until smooth with the back of a spoon, plastic works best. Apply with finger tips to the face or wherever you are wanting to detoxify. Let dry. Wash off with warm water and a washcloth, and pat dry. Skin will be a little red for a few minutes.

Do not use on extra sensitive skin.

My Massage Tip

Relaxing Massage

From the oldest to the youngest in our family, we love aromatherapy massages! Even the toddler in the family is known to stick her feet in our face and request "rub" and it isn't unusual for her to fall asleep in the process! Lavender appears to be the young one's favorite, while Ortho Sport and Deep Relief for aching muscles has the grown-up's vote!

My Emotional Release Tip

Release

I love Young Living's blend, Release, to help me let go of situations and negative memories that the mind has a tendency to "recycle". It really helps make a difference!

I recommend Young Living's essential oil and essential oil roll-on blends
